know if I could help him sell his 1972 MGB. I
asked him for more details, here's
what he sent back to me.
The synopsis is this: the car is somewhere in the
Denver, Colorado area; 1972 MGB, BRG, engine in
box, trans pops out of reverse, needs paint and
interior, asking $600.

I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly.
I really hate to have to sell the MG but the
garage that I have been storing it in is no longer
available. I have been working on cars for years
but
this is the first true bottom-up restoration I
have attempted. I bought the MG from a friend
(who bought
it from the original owner in Steamboat Springs,
CO) who had hoped to restore it but his failing
health
interrupted. I then went off to college where I
quickly learned that I would not have much money
to put
into the car very soon. I have now graduated, am
getting married in June, and will not have a house
with
garage for at least a couple of years. Ideally I
would like to find a garage to house the car while
I work
on it, but this has proven more difficult than I
had expected. So, as a last resort I need to sell
it
soon.
I am fairly new to the auto restoration world and
don't know exactly what cheap means. Right now
the engine has been pulled and the block stripped
in preparation for machining. The body is in
fairly good
condition besides a bent in right-front fender and
bumper which should be fairly easy to fix
(probably
needs a new bumper) and some rust under the doors.
Interior will need some work (I had hoped to put
in a
leather kit from Victoria). The paint (British
Racing Green) is fading and will probably need
repainting.
I did put a new windshield in. As far as the
tranny is concerned, I have not looked at it much.
In
driving it from its old owner to my house I
noticed that it pops out of reverse but the other
gears are
smooth as silk. I don't know a lot about MG's but
it does not have the wire spoke wheels. No
luggage rack
but the top is in fairly good condition minus a
couple of very small tears.
All in all it is a nice project that I had really
hoped to be able to continue. I purchased the
car for $1500.00 but because the engine is in
pieces in a couple of boxes, my need to get rid of
it soon,
and its general condition I hope to sell it for
$600.00.
In general I would prefer posting ads by word of
mouth/email over online posting. If you are
interested please let me know as soon as you can;
if not I would appreciate it if you would forward
this
info to people that you know of. Please let me
know if I can provide any more pertinent
information and
feel free to reword the above synopsis for clarity
if you forward it.
