Thanks to everyone who came up with suggestions for opening the trunk on
my B.
Whilst I shared James Nazarian's desire to use explosives and envied
Tab's apparent ability to turn the car upside down and shake it, the
easiest (yet not as visually rewarding!!) suggestion was to open the
trunk with the key turned less than normal. It worked - no problem!
And James' assessment as to the reason was spot on. The mechanism wears
at the point where it spends most of its time. The fix is easy as
well. Take off the operating cam and bend it very slightly.
