I had no idea when this theme started that a hood was such a big deal.
Try this. Clean everything back to good solid metal. Spot weld some new
metal sheet to the underside of the hood. The proper material is available
from auto body supply shops. Sand the entire hood, both sides and spray with
a good 2 part, self etching primer, when fully cured finish with a good
quality body filler. NAPPA's extra light is excellent in spite of it's low
cost. refinish with proper primer and paint.
With proper application you will be amazed how well this will hold up. Even
on a hood.
