I recently completed an overhaul on my 72 "B" engine, with both the
engine and trans. removed. The trans had been working great, so I opted
not to attempt an overhaul. (Both had been sitting for quite a few
years though.) The only work I did on the trans. was to overhaul the
O.D. solenoid assembly and fix the wiring, and of course replace the
oil. I also powerwashed the unit, being careful not to aim the wand at
any plates covering internal parts. Alas, upon reinstalling everything,
I cannot seem to get the "remote control" rod to move into any gear.
All it will do is move across neutral and past the safety gate for
reverse. The clutch hydraulics are fully operational (new H.D. clutch,
rebuilt master, new slave). Do I face having to pull the unit out
(again!), or does anyone have an idea that I can try short of that??

Waiting, hoping, for a great suggestion.
