The article seemed to imply that at 6000rpm redline, with the 4-speed 
gearbox and the rear axle ratio chosen, they topped out at 131mph on the 
straight. So possibly a higher speed could have been achieved with a 
different final drive ratio, which may not have been available or that 
would have produced poor gear ratios for other parts of the course. OD 
was not fitted due to the power output of the modified engine.

Frankly, it's hard to see how one could top that speed significantly. A 
sprint engine as opposed to a Le Mans engine could squeeze out a few more 
HP, but it would take ungodly amounts of power to get a stock bodied MGB 
much above 130.
