Good for you Chris!

Last week I read a story of a guy with a TR3 or TR4. He wanted to keep the
car as original as possible. It all went well, but this car consumed
ingintion coils like hell.
On this car the coil is mounted onto the engine, so heating up the coil
everytime to very hot.

He placed the coil from the engine and never had a problem anymore....

Happy miles!

Hans

Thanks again to everyone who responded with opinions and suggestions. After
much consideration, I felt that the gearbox oil was not the culprit, and
checked all my wiring connections. All appeared in good order, so I bit the
bullet, and ordered a new solenoid. Installed it this morning, and indeed
the overdrive is again working correctly. It appears that, as suggested by
Hans, the solenoid coil was indeed opening when it heated up. Then when the
current flow in the coil stopped, it would cool, and continutity would be
restored.

Thanks Again.
