I'll buy into the money theory but not much into the cars of our youth. My
first MG was/is a TD made in 1953 when I was eight. I didn't know anything
about MGs until I was fifteen. I then saw my first MG, a MGA. I thought they
were cool cars, but when I read "The Red Car", I knew the archaic T series was
the one I wanted. I couldn't find a TC (I live in SD), but did find the TD.
The TD was also cheaper than any of the TCs I saw advertised for sale in some
publications.
