Sending $ to NZ

  Bought an item on Ebay from New Zealand. The seller mentions sending him 
cash or bank check because money orders regular or Postal are too hard to 
cash. I am not too sure about sending cash many thousands of miles, how 
does a bank check differ from a money order and what is the best solution 
for sending him the money that will make it easy to cash and convert to NZ 
$. The item is an MG brochure so that is the LBC content.
