I have to say that your car has been trying to tell you something and you
took no notice, and also that the last thing I would've done is to increase
the revs when there was no oil pressure.  You definitely need to check
out/substitute the oil gauge, and check the pressure relief valve has good
seating surfaces and is free in the bore.  Beyond that you could be looking
at oil pump problems.  Problems in the relief valve and pump will be causing
engine damage.
