Are you running an alternator or a generator on this car?

It may be that the belt is loose...check your manual for the correct
amount of belt deflection...measurement taken typically on the longest
straight run of the belt, generally 1/2 or 3/4 inch of deflection. You
may need a new belt, too, if the other is slipping. Does the light
glow all the time or just at idle? Does the light go out if you rev
the engine?

Use a good voltmeter to test the voltage coming out...that may be an
indicator of alternator/generator problems.
