Thanks to all who wrote.  Bottom line?  MGA and the MGB (with the banjo 
housing) gears, carrier and whole pumpkin interchange.
There is a difference in the sun gear splines.

Looks like it's a no go trying to stuff the tube type gears into the banjo type 
carrier.
