My turn for a question:

The pinch bolt used on the wrist pin end of the rod is definately
a weak link in the XPAG and 15G B series engines.

Why wouldn't you get a more durable system by eliminating the
lock washer, subsituting a hardened steel washer of the same
thickness, and using loctite on the threads?

My reason for considering eliminating the lock washer is that it
damages the underside of the head of the bolt and the rod, and
puts more stress on one side of the head when first tighting.

Some engines don't use lock washers for the rod's big end
bearings now, but rely on self locking nuts with the nylon
insert. So why not eliminate it on the wrist pin pinch bolt?
