I was watching TV this morning waiting to see the news when the
weekly motoring editor reported on the New MGF, he had just tested. He said
the steptronic gear box is a delight, the car handles well and is 'FUN' to
drive. Normally he's a serious looking chap and gives a dry assessment of
his 'victim' of the week, but, when the camera was in the car with him he
was commenting on the car and smiling all the time! I know how he felt! MG's
have had the same effect on me since I drove my first TD back in 1962, Y'all
know how that goes don'cha. The car is going to sell for $Aus45,000 so it's
way out of my reach!
One controversial thing he did say was that in his opinion MG had never made
an ugly car, with perhaps the exception of the 'Y' type back in '49 and '50.
I'm not going to buy into the ugly argument, were all entitled to our own
opinions, eh? Channel 9 in SA if you want to send him a blast for being
unkind to the 'Y' series!
