front suspension questions

I'm considering lowering the front of my '67 sprite 1/2 to 3/4 inch
What is the downside of doing this?
Also recently read an article about installing shims under the front shocks to
go from 1 degree positive camber to neutral or negative camber
Has anyone on list done this?
what are the advantages and disadvantages?
