Bob:

Aaah, the inspection cover. Of course. (Didn't know there was one! See,
I'm learning about tranny's without even getting my hands dirty!) Thanks
for the input. Just where is the inspection cover, anyway?

Will,

 1. I'm very tempted to try to get this car running to see what condition
the engine and tranny are in. It would be great to discover that engine
and
tranny are alive and well and ready to be dropped into my yellow 77.
However, my gut tells me that I would be getting into an awful lot of work
in the wrong direction. Any thoughts on the matter?

While scrounging through a bone yard last year, I came up with an OD for my
'66. When I went back to pick it up it came complete with the engine. Since
I
had the windfall of an extra engine, it was sufficientIy satisfied if I
could
rotate the crank. You might want to try to start it. If that fails you'll
have a spare that you'll probably tear down anyway.
Pop the inspection cover on the tranny and check the gears. I had some
missing teeth on the laygear that I'm not happy about. I would save all the
ancilliaries and the rear end....especially since there may only be 75K on
the clock.

 2. The parts that I was interested in, namely engine, tranny, bumpers and
Rostyle wheels all look good (as far as an engine and tranny can look
without getting them going). What 4-hole, 14 inch wheels will fit a B so
that when the parts car goes, I can keep the Rostyles?

Can't help here....I have wires .

 3. Finally, besides the parts I mentioned above, what should I strip off
as
a matter of prudence to keep on hand "just in case"?

See above

Good luck
