selection of typical heights.

'Flat' springs are OK (if not actually normal) but reverse-bowed springs
have probably gone too far.

Seems a common problem in North America with replacement springs, I can only
assume the specs used are wrong as I have bought two sets of OE springs in
the UK and had no problems.

No, but changing both sides, of whichever end, is.
