The early MGA used the same basic type of C39PV2 generator as the
TD. They show that the cars were shipped to the USA with 50/40
watt headlamps.
AND they describe the installation of TWO fog lamps. These are
probably the same as used on the TD and would draw 48 watts EACH.
So you might be able to use two halogen driving lamps at 55 watts
each.
FWIW: The Lucas book shows that the USA cars used relays on the
fog lamps, but none are listed in the Factory Shop Manual as part
of the installation instructions.
