That's one way ;-)

It might be more useful to check why your throttle butterflies aren't
closing. Here's how...

There are several reasons why your throttles are open; the first is the
easiest to fix...

1. Either the throttle stop screws aren't completely backed off or the choke
linkages are wrongly adjusted. Take the filters off and operate the throttle
whilst using a torch to see if you can see past the brass butterfly plates
top and bottom. Tweak the two adjusters to see if you can get the plates to
close.

2. The throttle butterflies are either the wrong way around and/or aren't
centered. Take off the carbs and open each throttle plate to look at the
edge where it protrudes from the engine side. You will see the plates have a
chamfer which, when the throttle is closed, should be at the same angle as
the carb throat. If one or both plates are the wrong way round, the throttle
won't close. If this is the case, turn the plates through 180 degrees and
refit. Then proceed to the next step.

3. When they are the right way round, the butterfly plates have to be
centered. To do this, leave the brass screws which fix the plate loose, so
that the plate can move in relation to the throttle shaft. Then, close the
throttle firmly by hand and tighten the screws. Check that the throttles
open and close fully before spreading the screws' ends to lock the plate.
Repeat on the other carb.

If none of the above apply, make sure the throttle cable has a touch of
slack and if *this* doesn't work, start looking for air leaks.

Hope this helps,
