        The difference in the top covers is due to the type of top bows use
on the car.  Originally the 1970 car would have had a grey top bow set that
scissored towards the center of the car.  The later cars had black top bows
that fold backwards and stay close to the side panels.

        The 71-80 cover will attach to the car without a problem, but if you
are using the early type bows it will be pouchy (is this a word?) at the
sides where it would normally be filled with the folded bow structure.

        Are you using the tonneau cover correctly?  With the top down (or
off) install the tonneau bar.  Fold up the unused section of tonneau cover
and attach the installed fasteners to the lift a dot studs on the kickup
below the rear battery cover/floor ledge.
