I finally got out there and looked at the 2 cars and have pretty much
decided if I can get the differential out that's what I'm going to do.  The
housing in the 79 is different than the earlier model in that the late one
has a sway bar and the early one doesn't.  Now all I need to do is figure
out how to get the differential out without the special tool shown in the
manual.
