Well, what a weekend. My first NatMeet so I can't judge it against
anything else, but from all the compliments flying around the place it
seems like the South Australian MGCC did it well. It certainly was a
fantastic meeting from a participant's point of view - which means that
there were probably plenty of dramas but they were not allowed to spoil
the fun for the people attending in Adelaide, from all over Australia.

Seeing about five hundred people attending the presentation dinner on
Monday night really put the size of the event into perspective.

It was also great to have a number of International visitors - and
especially guest speaker Don Hayter (with 2002 being the 40th
anniversary of the MGB).

A huge Concours filling a city park with a magnificent array of the
Marque from pre-war to RV8 and MGF (and the display of models yet to
released here yet).

A slickly run Motorkhana.

An Observation run into some of the prettiest countryside around (and
the wine growing district of the Barossa Valley).

A SuperSprint that saw the outright trophy taken out by a 4 cylinder
MGTC Special - beating some very fast MG race cars and even the famous
RebelYellow MGTC super special V8 of Roger Waters (featured in MG World
Magazine recently).

A huge weekend and some incredible machinery. And the weather was
perfect (if a little hot for the Sprints on Monday - our Summer has come
very late).

Oh yeah, and I managed to bring home a couple of trophies - taking out a
3rd place in the Motorkhana in my class (MGB production class) - hey, I
don't do Motorkhanas :-) - and second place by less than half a second
in the Super Sprint in my class - with a personal best time.

The next Australian NatMeet will be held in Victoria over the Easter
weekend 2003. If any of you are planning a holiday in this part of the
world... plan it for that time (and bring your car with you... or you
can borrow mine - it goes well :-)
