Larry,

I'm not sure that having discrepancies between the tape (made fourteen years
ago so I can't remember the details) and such an erudite publication as a
Haynes manual (known for never making mistakes) can be considered a "good
review"!

Still, let's try and help Rob with information taken from my current
knowledge, based on rebuilding HIFs on a regular basis at my shop..........

The mixture adjustment on an HIF is as follows: screwing the adjusting screw
inwards (i.e. clockwise) richens the mixture, counter-clockwise leans it.

The float level should be measured across the center of the float. Doing
this before the jet is installed makes accurate measurement easier.
