First my deepest gratitude to all who emailed me with suggestions as to
how to solve my excessive smoking caused by oil flowing from the front
side/tappet cover to and thru the carb. After scouring the country and
paying dearly for a replacement cover, I installed it this morning,
reinstalled the manifold, cat, carb, etc., and no smoke or oil after
extensive driving and testing. This after 2 complete lower end rebuilds
and 3 complete head rebuilds. Can anyone figure out why a side/tappet
cover would create such a major headache? Who knows why but it did and
now it is gone! Yeaaaa!
