My guess is this Peter Thornley is John Thornley's son.

For the uninitiated of "MG Magic" John Thornley was the GM of MG from
1952 to 1969, or 17 years. If MG is considered coming into existence
with "Old Number One", then Cecil Kimber was GM of MG from 1925 to 1941,
or 16 years. John Thornley was hired by Cecil Kimber in 1931 as
assistant service manager. Thornley was instrumental in starting the
MGCC and was still on its board into the 1990s. He's almost more MG
than Cecil Kimber.

If this is THE Peter Thornley then he was very active in MG racing,
Sebring I think, and other venues. Those that are within a reasonable
distance really should make an effort to attend.
