Unlikely to be body colour, this would mean they would have been painted
off-car and the right colour matched up on the assembly line. Or painted
on-car which would mean there would be no paint in the join. Neither would
they have been bare metal. They may have been a metal plated finish, but
mine were gloss black the same as the two cross members. I repainted mine
in Hammerite Gloss Black.
