Define "performance", will you be driving on track or at autocross?
Is winter/rain performance important to you?

Tire selection is tricky business.

For all-season driving, the Bridgestone Potenza RE900 185/70R14
would probably be pretty good.

I run Dunlop D60A2 195/60R14 currently, but you need non-stock rims and
have to be very careful with offset to get those to fit. Terrible
snow/ice performance but reasonably decent dry grip, and last a long
time. They've been superceded by the SP Sport A2 though I think.

Dunlop and Goodyear don't seem to offer much excitement in 185/70R14
and I've never heard of Kelly. Pirelli P4000/P400 might be an option.
