Tom,
Though it was a year ago I had mine off, I'm pretty sure they are a Phillips
head , maybe #2 on our 79. My screw heads were on the right. The bottom
right one is the hardest to get off and I found that I had to take the other
ones clear out first then wiggle the cowl to gain access to the bottom one.
I think I even loosened the steering column bolts a little for access.
