Have you checked "the usual suppliers"? I mean your local or favorite Moss
agent or LBC specialist.

Well, for some years, they ARE the same length. The Moss catalog has a list
which should tell which which length is for which application.
 
If one seems to be off-balance, have you checked that the yokes are aligned?
It is possible to remove the telescoping front section, and re-insert it so
that the yokes are no longer lined up. This will cause vibration (at the
very least).

If it's the right length, and assembled correctly, it should be fine.
