Most torque charts list torque specifications as "lubed."
That is a lubricant is used on the threads. The type of
lubricant is critical. If the lubicant is "never-sez
compound, molykot, fel-pro C-5, graphite and oil or similar
mixtures" the torque is usually as specified. If the
"lubricant is oil or chassis grease", then the torque should
be increased by 20%. This information is from a Sturtevant
chart that accompanied our beam torque wrench from Sears in
the late 1960's.
