Having said that a manual override can be useful as well as giving peace of
mind, and an illuminated switch can also tell you when the thermo switch has
cut in, also for peace of mind.  From memory there are two single connectors
where the green and blue/green wires from the main loom connect to the
thermo switch (non-V8 cars).  Replace these with double bullet connectors
and run two wires from here to the manual switch.  Connecting an indicator
between the blue/green and ground will indicate when the thermo switch has
operated.
