Hey,
I did the same thing on my Midget, We bought it and it had this wierd adapter
on it. The standard 'MG midget' filter was too big. So we went to Walmart and
they had about 50 types of filters, we tried them ALL. None fit. So, we ordered
this filter #551312 and it came with a new adapter. Now the standard filter
will fit.
About the number, don't ask me where we got it, or what brand it is, I don't
remeber. We went to pep boys and they could search by the part# for and brand.
So there you go!
