Under dash panels

I'm planning on finally installing my new abs under dash panels
(liners).  Mine seem to be way too big - has anyone else had a similar
experience and needed to trim them?.  Also I think have a good idea as
to how to install them but I don't have a point of reference since the
originals were already gone when I purchased the car.
