Hi gang,
I am well on my way to disassembling a standard 4-cylinder B
engine for my 1st rebuild. It is a 2nd engine as the stock one in my 76 is
running fine. When I do exchange it for the the one in the car, I'll be
also replacing the 4-speed tranny with an od unit.

For you experienced guys, think back to
your 1st engine and that is where I am. This is my 1st. I've been thinking
of doing some modifications for only street, road & highway driving and
would like various bits of advice and thoughts in my planning for reassemble.
If you would indulge me...

I am staying with HIF's for the carborator.

1. I am planning to have the engine bored to 1950cc. What are the pluses
and minus (if any) of the Moss 1950 piston set or would an alternative set
be suggested.
        What other mods are useful?

2. Does one gain from a standard cam improvement in the 45-75mph range
with the Moss "Fast Street Camshaft"?

3. Can one describe the significance of the cross-flow head advertised in
Moss vs the standard for only street driving? (Bit pricey but I can ask!)

4. I don't have an oil cooler on my machine and I am located in the
mid-Atlantic states. Is one warranted?

5. Other than cleaned up, should I have anything done to the flywheel
(lighten?, replace with the alloy flywheel?

6. I do need to replace the distributor...suggestions?

In case you couldn't tell, I really don't know the automotive theory
behind what I'm doing or why, but I must say, doing this is the most
fun I've had since I made my last plastic model airplane 41 years ago.
