I know that I am looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack with
this request, but I am looking for help locating or at least narrowing
the engine number for my 1500. The BMHIT build sheet for my car shows
that the car was built on June 16-17,1958. According to everything I
have seen and read, this puts the engine # somewhere between 40850 and
45000 or so.
Anyone out there have a 1958 A that was built between May & July 1958
and is fairly certain that they have an original engine with number
plate. My car's chassis # is 53218 as confirmed by both the ID plate and
the chassis crossmember.
Is anyone close?
