Yo,
This morning after trying to start my MGB (1978 RB MGB OTS) And realizing
that "Oooops! I'd let it sit too long since I last used it! Last time was on
July
20, 2003..and, it obviously had been way too many hours, days, weeks since it
(the MGB) had been driven. So I saw it as my solemn duty to give her a real
good "airing out" to clear any "crud" out of her! But first I had to get my
nifty lil' Battery in-a-box Jump Starter. First I connected the Jumper cables
and
then pumped the accelerator a few times while. It was turning over with the
hesitancy of a crotchety old geezer (like it's owner, me!) Finally on the 3rd
try she caught!! Yes!! I removed the Jumper cables and let her warm up. I'd
put just the right size rock on the accelerator pedal so that she rev's at just
the right RPM. If the rock is too small it won't do much so I look for just
the right size so that it revs at about 1200 rpm. The next alert will be my
wife
saying (yelling...) "You can turn it off NOW!!) Which I did a couple off
minutes later feigning a problem of hearing my wife by shrugging my shoulders
and
pointing to my ears as if to ask... "Whaat?" But being a good little Bee, by
now shes happily reving at about 800 rpm just like a nice little sewing
machine, except for the twin pipes of her Anso exhaust. As far as her battery
goes I
hope she's charged up by the time I return from my little romp hopefully her
Battery will be as up as me. The Return of the Bad Penny. Well, not quite that
bad. And on my return (like I said B-4) things with the battery will have
improved. Unless it has a dead cell. Then I'll have to address that problem.
But,
not now, because now I have other things to occupy my mind, like this great
drive in the warm summer air, with the top down all my senses collecting and
assimillating data as to hearing, sight, feelings and smell. Yep, in my MGB
when
the top is down I can drive down the street and study and sample various
smells like hot brakes, backyard B-B-Ques,freshly mowed lawns, oil burning cars
and pizza places, all like a big bouquet of the days journey. This is why I
bought my MG! It makes me feel completely alive!!
