Yeah, Crane bought these guys a while back.  I had an Allison myself when I
got my 80.

I called the Crane support line to try to get some help in making sure that
the unit was working correctly.  He told me to "Put that piece of crap in a
box, ship it to us and we will sell you a new one at half price".  I did
exactly that.  At the very least it ruled out that black box as being a
problem.

This was a couple of years ago, I don't know if they still have that deal in
place.  Worth a call, cause as I understand it, once that unit goes bad it
is just bad.

FWIW, the new unit has a LED on it to give you a clue as to when spark
should be happening.
