All who did reply to this thanks a lot.
Yesterday I finally got enough time and great weather to do the
troubleshooting.
Paul was right - the failure was in the "white" circuit.
However the feeding part (brown interlink feeding the keyswitch) was failing
as well.
So I found the bullet connector interlink to the keyswitch not tight enough,
so I replaced it.

Then I started measuring and when more users were switched on the voltage
dropped more and more (loosing some 1.2 volts when all current users are
switched on like wipers, heater fan, blinkers.
So I replaced the black interlink for the 4 bullet connectors near the
ignition key switch as well.
This all made the glow in the dark fully go away.

About the alternator:
some of you may remember I had this overhauled by a specialist in sprintime,
as the alternator had a continuous leak current of 16 mA.
After recharging my batteries with an external charger I went to my MG parts
shop.
As it was weekend the prtevious owner helped me - he knows me for 15 years
now and he was very helpful.
So he handed me over a little digital test equipment, with which I tested my
batteries.
Both are full shot, due to the fact these have been fully drained by the
alternator leak in last winter for a long period.

So I need new batteries - what's the going price for a good set of
batteries?

Cheers,

Hans
