What I meant was, where are the flaps? Does that line represent a cut, or a
seam, or an opening sealed with snaps or zippers?

On the currently available tonneau covers, the diagonal zipper runs the
opposite way than you are showing these lines; that is, with the outboard
end of the zipper forward and the inboard end further back.  So I am having
difficulty visualizing the function of these "flaps".
