Congratulations, and don't be too alarmed. The beauty of this era of car is
its simplicity, the vast majority of mechanical and electrical problems are
relatively easy to deal with especially with the amount of advice to be had,
parts are plentiful (although there are good and bad quality as with
anything) and in the UK at least they are significantly cheaper than parts
for modern cars. However body structure is everything, and serious rot here
can be very expensive to deal with.
