I finally bought some replacement felt padding for under the hood of

use?

3M produces a spray-on contact cement that works pretty good, and when I got
an interior from a UK-based supplier I got the same thing with their store
label. You spray a good covering on both surfaces, wait a couple of minutes
for it to get tacky, and press on.

However, this seems to last about 3 to 4 years before the pad starts to
slowly peel off. There is a brush-on contact cement, also used in interior
carpet applications, but this would be tough to use on the bonnet.
