If you could get enough force onto the release arm, but unless it was hooked
up to an MGB master cylinder you would need to ensure you only gave it the
real-world travel (1/2" to 5/8") or it would be pretty meaningless.  Even
then the only thing you could check is that there is *some* friction
(between crankshaft and output shaft, in a gear) with it released, and no
friction with it operated, but with the full forces things could be quite
different.
