In case anyone was wondering, I found out the application for the Bosch
alternator I was using, by researching it on the MGB Experience website.

1978-80 Ford Fiesta, 1.6 liter 4cyl., 55 amps with internal voltage
regulator, part #13107. [Note that there will also be an Autolite alternator
listed for this application, with external voltage regulator -- don't use
this one (or you will have to source the voltage regulator as well).]

I have fitted the new alternator, but I am still waiting for the battery to
charge.

I did not actually ascertain what was electrically wrong with the old
alternator -- the fact that it made horrible bearing noises when spun was
enough for me. I did confirm it was getting battery voltage (feeble as it
was), but I couldn't start the car to check output.
