  Well, soon after I bought my current B, I discovered (the hard way) 
that my gas gauge read high.  Likewise the temp gauge wasn't right.  So 
I got under the dash with my trusty VOM in order to do some 
troubleshooting.  So I discovered that the VS's mounting screw was loose 
and the mounting tab and cowl had some sorrosion on them (bad ground). 
Originally the VS was mounted with the tab pointed down, unlike the one 
in Eric's pic.  When I put the VS back in I mounted it with the tab 
pointing up.  Guess what, the gauges still read high!  So I turned the 
thing back over and the gauges have been reading correctly ever since.

   I suppose the above could be the result of something being wrong with 
my particular VS but I've never had the chance to test another one and 
since the gauges are working OK I've let it be.
