I'd get the pukka hose from a parts supplier.
FWIW Unless you had only just filled the tank and/or travelled a short
distance from a cold garage the fuel is more likely to reduce through usage
than expand through heat. And the tank on a North American car should never
become pressurised from fuel expansion, or experience partial vacuum from
fuel use, unless the vent circuit via the emissions system is blocked.
