I used Copydex (do you have that brand in the US) last time I did a hood
(on a Spitfire).  It's quite forgiving since, if you are not happy, you
can unstick and re-stick a few times without problems.

I'm not sure how I can describe how hard to pull, except "quite hard",
but less than "as hard as you can" (do you want a figure in lbs?).  It
was pretty taut when I installed it on a warm day, and I never had a
problem raising the hood - although as soon as the weather turned cold I
usually swapped it for the hard-top anyway.

Don't know about your wrinkle problem, didn't bother me on the zip-out
window on my Spit (which I never zipped out anyway).
