John:

Sorry, but you did order the wrong part number.

The rack and pinion changed around about 1972 at the GAN5-114486 chassis
number.

Your 1971 Midget would use the earlier 263-288 tie rod end pair which
have a 5/8 UNF thread, rather than the 668-040 set which have are
smaller.

Kelvin.

Subject: Midget Tie Rod Ends

Hello Listers!

I just got in an order of tie rod ends! I went to install them on my 71
Midget, and the bore was much too small to replace my current ones!

Did I order the wrong part?

I ordered a pair of part #668-040.

The bags I got have part #668-047.

I looked on the Moss Site, and it has the #668-040 and #263-288.

My Questions:
1) Did I just get the wrong part #?
2) Is part #263-288 much larger than part #668-040?
3) Did the DPO put in some kind of alien hybrid steering mechanism?

Thanks!
