Thanks again to those who offered advice on my computer problem. I have
since successfully downloaded Avast! antivirus software onto the Windows98
based computer to replace the AVG wouldn't work any longer. I was very lucky
that I did not contract a virus during the 2 weeks without protection.

PS, I see that the viral Microsoft/Linux/Mac/whatever else discussion is
still alive and well:-). I hope I didn't open a can of worms, pardon the
pun.
