The timing should always be *checked* after changing or adjusting the trigger,
and this includes fitting a new set of points in place of an old one as well
as replacing points with an electronic trigger or electronic ignition of any
type.  The timing is very sensitive to the rotational position of the trigger,
points or Pertronix, and while they can claim it is a reversible replacement
they don't claim it will give identical timing, which is why they infer that
the timing should be reset.  FTFM!
