No.  If it really is reading too high, then it is faulty, take it back.  I 
suppose you could remove the bezel and glass, prise off the needle, and 
replace at the correct position, but if you cock it up it's a lot of money 
wasted.  Where did you position the other tester, and what did it and the 
new gauge say?
