If you haven't been following things at Road Atlanta, you'll be in for a big
surprise. They are making a ton of changes to the place. Most everything is
a nice improvement. Except for one change in the track....The dip as we've
known it is gone!! It has been partially filled in and one of those
sanitization chicanes has been added. Now you start down the hill and enter a
downhill to level braking zone for a HARD left, then right going back up hill
and under the bridge. What was once a power track is now really a power
track. For small bore folks who like to fly it thru the dip, 11 & 12 forget
it. Now it is a 60 mph turn and uphill acceleration. The straight ends in a
really hard braking zone now....bring more brake pads! At least there is a
very nice gravel trap if you go off. Some nice track changes include a short
course layout coming from turn 5 to the back straight and improved runoff
areas at 5, 6, 7.
